My Approach to Production for Artists
My focus is on the artist and the song. I start every project with a production meeting to make sure I understand what you’re going for, and then send you rough ideas to make sure my work is aligned with your vision. Once we’re on the right track, we’ll work together on any revisions to chords, lyrics or vocals that you need, then I’ll get a good sketch of the whole piece recorded and check again to make sure we’re still together. After that, I’ll polish it up, record the remaining instruments, hire session players as needed, get your final approval, then mix the project.
This is bespoke work, with a higher degree of customization than you’ll find in many studios. By default, I design most of the sounds myself using hardware synths, software synths, or acoustic instruments. The vast majority of sound effects and “ear candy” are designed in-house, as well, so nobody will hear an effect in your song and say, “hey, that sounds just like so-and-so.” The focus every step of the way is to make something creative and expressive, that brings your vision to life.
