I have been teaching private students since the late 90s. My approach is both systematic and individually tailored to each student’s needs. Above all, I try to foster a love of music, whether they want to learn to play the saxophone, the flute, the guitar, the piano, to write or produce music, or even just understand what they’re listening to on a deeper level.
In principle, all of my students follow the same structure that I do, focusing on the various physical and musical skills that make for an expressive musician. Each skill is addressed individually, with detailed explanations and exercises designed to take their progress to the next level.
I’ve had students ranging from the ages of 3 to their 80s, although I now only take students 9 and older. I teach one-on-one online or at home, or can be hired to teach group lessons for your institution or band. I have taught group lessons at Westminster Conservatory at Ryder University, Rutgers, Newark, and I taught for 3 years at Newark Public Schools.
I am proud of all of my students, and enabling a lifetime of music appreciation for them is one of the great joys in my life.
